Ultimo Bridal Couture
The opening collection features a capsule range of four bridal gowns designed by Brian Rennie, the former head of design for legendary fashion house Escada. Brian spent 20 years with the luxury brand, where he created red carpet dresses for celebrities including Beyoncé, J-Lo and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Brian Rennie, Creative Director of Ultimo Couture, said; “We already have a presence in the bridal market thanks to Ultimo’s bridal lingerie, so really it was a natural progression for the business to move into bridal dresses – particularly with the success of Ultimo Couture.
“Coming from a luxury design house, the challenge for me was to create a collection of ‘off-the-rail’ dresses that could easily be mistaken for big name bridal designers, and I think we’ve most certainly achieved this with the opening collection. We have four beautiful designs that offer women a modern yet romantic look and tick all of the boxes.”
Michelle Mone, creator of Ultimo and Ultimo Couture Bridal, said; “What we have achieved with Ultimo Couture Bridal is incredible; despite the fact that the dresses are highly affordable, there has been no compromise on quality, elegance or style. I’m extremely excited about the collection and I’m sure brides-to-be will be too when the dresses go on sale in January. All of the designs are sophisticated, timeless and modern, as well as being thoroughly affordable priced from just £300.”The collection showcases four designs, including an ivory strapless gown and a champagne satin fish tail gown with crystal strap detailing. Each of the floor length designs have been crafted from sumptuous materials, tailored beautifully to show off the brides figure and finished with Swarovski crystals to give a glamorous edge.
Michelle added; “Brian is an absolute genius when it comes to designing beautiful gowns for women, he really has the Midas touch. The drama and femininity of his designs, as well as his extravagant use of fabric and ability to create flattering silhouettes for all women, is really quite magical and showcased perfectly in the forthcoming Bridal collection.”
Ultimo Couture Bridal is available exclusively from Debenhams stores nationwide.

Specialty Linens: The Newest Trends and Biggest Impact
Q. Why should I use specialty linens in my wedding?
A. Specialty linens have the biggest impact when it comes to design because tables are the biggest objects in the room. Previously, white and ivory were the standard choices for linens and the centerpiece was the only way to add color and design. Linens are like canvases and they can transform any even in to an extraordinary visual experience, Just like apparel fabrics, each linen fabric tells its own story. In act, many of the fabrics currently used in the industry are apparel fabrics. Bottom line, dollar for dollar, linens add more design value than any other component in an event.
Q. How do you help Brides choose which linens are right for their wedding?
A. Usually the first decision is about color, then style. Linen decisions are framed around the color of flowers, bridesmaid dresses, invitations and the bride's favorite colors. Next, we look at style. Some people are romantics and want fabrics that communicate that look, others want sparkle and glitz, and some Brides prefer a modern, sleek style. Keeping a notebook with photos of ideas and styles, that they like, helps a wedding design coordinator get a visual image of their preferences and personalities, because every wedding is an opportunity to express individuality.
Q. What are the latest trends in linens?
A. Brides are taking more risks with color, no color is off-limits. Eggplant, violet, chartreuse, and fuchsia weddings, even orange has been popular. Brides are less concerned about convention and want to express their spirit through the design of their wedding. There isa lot of emphasis on specialty tables.
Q. What do we mean by specialty tables?
A. Cake tables, sweetheart tables, bridal parties, escort tables are where photographers shoot a lot of photos, so linen ensembles that feature specialty tables within distinct color ranges. Everything is color coordinated. The other trend is a return to romanticism. The whole idea of a wedding is about romance and some linens are like replicas of beautiful gowns. They have a high" wow factor" and they announce that the guests are at a very special event.

Reno's Premire Bridal Showcase
attended the Bridal Showcase.
Yes, bridal fairs are such wonderful events...happy, exciting and fun events! There will be fantastic vendors, capable and generous with their time and expertise. You will come away with brochures and business cards and so many marvelous ideas and options.
Plan to spend several hours there. You will love the models in wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses that will be featured in the fashion show. It is so helpful to be able to see each dress up close and touch the fabrics and ask the models to turn, etc. You just can't do that with a runway show. This will actually help you determine the designer and style for your wedding dress.
The sample wedding table settings and wedding decoration vendors are also very helpful in planning a theme for your wedding - again wonderful displays and very professional vendors will be on hand.
Bring your groom, as there will be tons of food and beverage tastings, and a Groom's Lounge with food and basketball games on the big screen!

Wedding Speeches and Toasts
You’re all decked out in fancy dresses and tuxes. The audience’s expectations are high! Now, you have to deliver. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the bridesmaid, best man or father of the bride. Giving a speech or a toast at a wedding can be nerve racking. But, it doesn’t have to be if you follow some basic rules.
Give Thanks - Thank the necessary people. This takes homework. Did Aunt Barbara create the lavish wedding cake? Did the new mother-in-law sew the bride’s elaborate wedding gown by hand? Did groom’s brother have his catering company cater the food?
Funny Wedding Toasts – Add in humor and make it funny! The best speech is one that blends humor with sentimental moments. If it’s too sentimental, you’ll have guests crying in their beer – that’s when lighthearted humor can balance it out. But the same goes with having too many jokes…if your speech is composed entirely of jokes - stop - and add in a few serious and sentimental parts. Go for funny, yet tender.
Best Man Speech: example of humorous speech or toast mixed with sentiment:
“Since meeting Sara, it’s been a pleasant sight to watch Marshall actually in the kitchen getting his hands dirty! That’s not the only thing… Marshall started doing dishes and doing his own laundry (instead of paying someone). Sara, thank you for helping him out!
“Marshall , I’m blessed to be your younger brother. You have been a friend, a mentor and role model for me. I am so happy that you have found this woman filled with perfection to spend the rest of your life with!” * reprinted with permission from InstantWeddingToasts.com
Toast the Couple - If you’re toasting the groom, still make note of the bride. Does she look stunning in her dress? Has she brought out new and admirable qualities in the groom? Did she earn your respect while whitewater rafting with the groom? Likewise, if you’re toasting the bride, still make note of the groom.
Speak from the Heart – If it means something to you, it will mean something to the audience. Don’t be afraid to get a little mushy. Draw the audience in.
Maid of Honor Sister Speeches: sample speech speaking from the heart
“I've known Ami for quite some time, since high school, in fact. Ami and I were chemistry lab partners our sophomore year in high school. We had fun in that class and some of it actually involved learning chemistry! One concept that we studied was molecules and how “A molecule is the smallest particle of a substance that still retains its physical and chemical properties.”
Ami and Stuart, special moments are the molecules of life. I hope that you can cherish the sweet moments and use them to bind your lives together. But I know you will because I have seen you two together and you truly take the time to enjoy each other.”

Get personal. Were you involved when the bride and groom met? Do they have children? What was the bride’s reaction when the groom proposed? Do they have nicknames for each other?
Open and Close with a Bang! - Keep your best stuff at the beginning and end. You want - and need - a strong opener and a strong closer. Want examples of a great closer? Use a short Irish wedding toast, one that conveys your best wishes for their future or sums up their relationship perfectly.
Irish Wedding Toast Samples:
May you both live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live. Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you. May your Love be modern enough to survive the times and old fashioned enough to last forever.
“Watch” the Clock - Don’t waste the audience’s time. Let’s face it; there are a lot of speeches and toasts at a wedding. If it’s not about the bride or groom, or doesn’t relate to love and marriage – cut it. Save the long or potentially embarrassing stories for the bachelor or bachelorette party. And speaking about time – be brief, not boring. And likewise, don’t be so short it’s not memorable. You can still have a short speech, but you must speak slower. A perfect short speech can be ruined by rushing.
Practice makes Perfect - Look at the audience. This takes practice, usually in front of a mirror with a spoon in one hand and a toasting glass in the other. Practice until you look good, until you can watch yourself in the mirror - and ultimately look at the audience - while speaking. Drop all the “ums” and “uhs”. It means you have to practice out loud, and when you think you’ve got it, get an audience of a brother/sister/friend and practice one more time.
Remember, when you open your mouth, you want to sound just as good as you look! Ready? Set. Deliver! Still don’t think you’ve got what it takes? Thinking you may need some help writing a wedding toast? Download Instant Wedding Speeches and Toasts.

How To Choose The Right Wedding Gown
A long formal dress is suitable for a church wedding of a civil ceremony although many brides do prefer wearing a smart dress or tailored suit for the Registry office. Some religions also frown on sleeveless dresses or low cut outfits and this will need to be taken into account too.
No matter which style you pick, remember that the back view is as important as the front, you will have your back to everyone during the ceremony.
Choose fabric that is resistant to crushing and creasing. Detachable trains that can be removed or hooked up are also wise. Dress ideas and colors will need to be discussed with the groom without revealing all the details so that the colors and styles of the wedding party can be coordinated.
Look In The Mirror
Be realistic and don't try and aim for what Hollywood starlets look like on their wedding days, most of us don't have personal trainer and chefs to look after us and help keep us in shape.
Don't set your goal posts too close to the moon, you will only be disappointed and feel like a failure when your big day is meant to be a celebration of your love for one another.
Concentrate on the real you! Think about what you normally wear, what colors suit you and which styles flatter you figure and most important, which outfits make you feel on top of the world, what type of ceremony and theme are you looking to create-traditional or relaxed, formal or informal.
Colors
White dresses are not obligatory these days, if you don't feel white is your color or will complement you then don't wear it. Wedding gowns are becoming increasingly popular in cream, pale gold, pale blue, pale pink and red. There is also a trend these days to go for darker colors like burgundy or shades of green which is a beautiful idea for a Christmas wedding.
You will feel better in a dress that flatters your complexion or one of your favorites instead of going with white because it seems to be the norm. If wearing a bright colored dress the details should be kept to a minimum.
The Right Style For Your Shape
Choosing a style that flatters your shape can make a huge difference to how you look and also give you a huge confidence booster. Trying on dresses that either don't suit your body or the ceremony is not only a waste of time, but can also depress you. You might find that you give in and buy the wrong dress anyway. A sure fire way to put a damper on your big day.
Tall and Thin
Choose a ball gown with a strapless, fitted bodice
Bony shoulders or collar bones can will suit dresses with a higher neckline that are long and fitted
If you feel you are too thin for this style consider that you can set of your height and leanness with some delicate detailed embroidery or beading.
Short With a Fuller, Feminine Figure
Try an empire line dress which has a seam under the bust line and in the right fabric, the dress will flow instead of cling.
A Knee length dress will also look good, the longer dress will add height and give you a taller silhouette.
Sleeves should also be long but not too tight if considered.
Thick Waist
Conceal a wide waist with a boned corset or wear a decorative jacket that falls just below the waistline
Avoid fitted ballerina styles
Very Full Bust
To draw attention away from the bust choose a dress with a long bodice or cowl neck
Dresses with a natural waistline will draw attention to the bust area
Pick a plain bodice and avoid low necklines
Pick a detailed hem if you want to add a little embellishment
Full or Wide Hips
Avoid bustles and ruffles or tiered dresses
Most styles will look great but avoid tight styles around the hips
Princess styles that are fitted on the top and flare slightly to the hem will help disguise larger hips
Ball gown styles in simple fabrics will also draw attention away from the hips
Big bottom
Avoid bows or back fastening ties
Consider a light train from the top of the bodice or waist
Wide Shoulders
Wide straps will narrow the appearance of your shoulders or cover thencompletely
Draw the focus to a v-neckline
Wearing a sheer wrap will also soften the effect
Do not wear puffed sleeves, don't even consider them!
Short or Heavy Legs
Opt for a long dress
Sheath styles which are straight but not too clingy will add height
Short Arms
Three Quarter length sleeves will be flattering
Do not go sleeveless
Chubby Arms
Choose long simple sleeves that are not too tight
Wear a bolero, shrug or wrap
Some Guidelines When Deciding On a Dress:
Try on as many different styles as you like and view them from as many different angles as possible, take some shoes along that will be similar in height to the ones you may wear. To get the full effect have the shop fit you out in a veil with the dress as you wont want to take your wedding dress with you when you go veil shopping
Take your time to make a decision and don't feel pressured by pushy salespeople
How much deposit is required and when is the balance due
Does the price include VAT
How much extra are the alterations
How far before the wedding must you order
How many fitting will be required and do they offer Saturday or after work hour fittings
Can you arrange a fitting with accessories, lingerie and shoe
Get confirmation of all appointments and money paid in writing
How far before the wedding will the dress arrive
Do the shop offer storage garment bags
Ask about the care instructions for getting the crease out before yourbig day
What is the shops policy on cancellations
Have you added the dress to your wedding insurance
If You Are Going to Rent Your Dress
Check to see if the chosen dress will be available on your day, cleaned and ready for collection.
Does the rental price include a full 24 hours?
Does the dress have to be cleaned before its returned (an added expense) After the wedding who will be entrusted with delivering the dress back to the hire shop?
