Shannon & Robert's Wedding

Every story is unique, and every wedding story is especially amazing. So is it with Shannon & Robert, who were classmate boyfriend & girlfriend in Elementary School. As they grew, they attended different schools & led different lives. They had mutual friends & attended the same party. Robert recognized Shannon & introduced himself as her childhood boyfriend, and they’ve been together ever since. As they pledged their faithfulness & love to one another, tears streamed down Shannon’s face. Robert grinned from ear to ear.

Their wedding was held by the Truckee River,at Idlewild Park in Reno & their reception was held at the historic California Building. Shannon and Robert's wedding was in the perfect park setting. We set 200 pristine white chairs among the lush green grass, while the gentle breezes blew through the trees. In the distance you could see the fountain of water from the center of the lake, reaching skyward. What a glorious day for these two wonderful people to become husband and wife.

Each table was named according to a different type of wine, and guests received an etched glass coaster that reminded them of the day they were to spend with Shannon and Robert. Tall silver centerpieces filled with votive candles and purple flowers towered high above each table, filling some of the space between the tables and the open beamed ceiling high above.

Shannon and Robert's cake was a true masterpiece! With six layers...yes, count them...six layers, and with every layer a different flavor, there was more than enough for everyone to have a taste of more that one! The variety of purple flowers that adorned the cake, spiraled down each layer.

The night was spent dancing & celebrating Shannon & Robert’s fabulous, long-lasting love for one another. The reception and dancing lasted into the night, and then without warning, Shannon and Robert flew off the dance floor and into a waiting limo, off to their happily-ever-after!

Shannon & Robert~thank you so much for the wonderful honor of assisting you with your wedding. You both hold a special place in my heart, and it is easy to see that you are so much in love, just by the way you look at each other. City of Reno Wedding Venues

A great option for many brides and grooms when searching for a wedding site or reception venue here in Reno, might be one of the many beautiful historical sites.
These buildings are each unique and offer a special atmosphere that is difficult to duplicate in a new facility. The charm of these venues is what makes getting married in Reno such a special experience. Each offering various square footage to accommodate a vast number of guests, they are well-maintained.
The rental fees are priced to accommodate most budgets, typically about $75 per hour. The tables and chairs are provided at no additional cost, however, you have to do all the set up and take down, as well as a general clean up of the facility. At the end of your event, the building essentially needs to look as it did when you arrived, with all tables broken down and put into the storage areas. There are a few restrictions, such as controlling the use of open flame, and ending your event prior to midnight, but if you can work within the guidelines, these buildings are a fantastic place to get married!










The California Building was built in 1927.The Spanish-style architecture, reminiscent of the early California missions distinguishes this popular facility which hosts numerous cultural and special events & weddings.

The Huffaker Schoolhouse was built in 1867 on land donated by Granville Huffaker, one of our area's original settlers. The school's appearance, with a red roof and painted white, is as it was in the early 1900s. The belfry has the original brass school bell made by the W.T. Garratt Bell & Brass Foundry in San Francisco. The restored building we have today was moved to its location in Bartley Ranch Regional Park in 1992. Rancho San Rafael, as the name implies, was once a working ranch. It began in the late 1890's with a cattle operation owned by the Pincolini brothers. The brothers used the land only for grazing. The Ranch House is just one of the buildings located in the Regional Park. It's home-like interior offers plenty of space for a smaller event, including a bride's room, a groom's room and two additional rooms and a courtyard for your reception. Full kitchens are also available at an additional rental cost.
