Who's really in control?

I went through these verses last night with a girl that I meet with every week.  I think they are just great reminders of how 'in control' of everything God is.  How often do we forget that He is faithful, has our best interest in mind, and everything that is good and profitable for His glory will be done.

Matthew 6:27
"And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life's span?

Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy, and My load is light."

Wedding Day Details Not To Miss~ The Menu Cards

The Menu Cards

Why? Menu cards designed to complement your wedding day stationery and coordinate with your signature colors, will add a stylish extra touch to each of your place settings.

How to do it?
The menu cards can be as formal or informal as your reception. Place round menu cards in the center of each charger to suit a decidedly formal reception. An individual menu card can be tucked into each folded napkin onto each guest's dinner plate. A framed menu card can be placed on each side of the table, so that all guests have a clear view of what will be served for dinner. A more laid-back wedding might call for the menu to be written on a chalkboard set up near the entrance. If you plan on serving a multi-course meal, consider giving guests mini menu booklets. They can even double as wedding guest place cards.

The attention that you place on even the smallest of details, makes your wedding day special. It also shows your guests that you took extra time to make them feel special as well.

Wedding Day Details Not To Miss~The Wedding Reception Bar

The Wedding Reception Bar

Why
? Let's face it: It might not be exactly what you want or expect, but the bar is a spot where most of your guests will probably spend a significant amount of time, which is precisely why it's a great place to add a burst of color, which will boost the look of the room.

How to do it?
Serve some unique bar snacks like watermelon balls in antique ice cream glasses, Grand Marnier-infused apricots, or ice cubes with a berry or another piece of fruit frozen inside. Consider printing your signature cocktail recipe right on your coasters or beverage napkins. Also, think about giving the bar itself a facelift: Ask your wedding planner to use bamboo, Lucite, or even laser-cut wood in a bold pattern for the front of the bar and use backlighting to create a stunning centerpiece for the room.

Wedding Day Details Not To Miss~The Loo

The Loo

Why? The restroom that will be used during your wedding ceremony or reception can often be an often-overlooked space that, when given a little tender love and care, creates an unexpected wow. It doesn't take much either -- even the slightest bit of decor will perk up and personalize this space. It's one more little detail that tells your guests that they are important.

How to do it
? Add small bud vases of flowers, give the bathroom new "Ladies" and "Gents" signs, or splurge on some monogrammed towels in your wedding colors. You can also use disposable decorative paper hand towels. To really impress your guests, scan childhood pictures of the two of you through the years, laminate them, and post them on the bathroom walls.

To some, paying attention to the restroom that your guests will use, might seem silly, but it creates a total effect and impression that you have left no detail overlooked on your wedding day.

Pass The Salt -Wedding Rituals

A pure substance, salt to many people is a good luck symbol and consider it to be a the purest of all earthly materials. What does salt have to do with a wedding?

The Covenant of Salt indicates a binding contract.  In the Bible, when a contract was made, each party put a pinch of salt into the pocket of the other person.  It was said that when each grain of salt could be sorted, identified, and returned to the rightful owner, the contract could be broken.  Today, partners each take a vial of salt, and pour their salt into a container, joining the grains together for eternity.

Indian weddings, the bride passes a handful of salt to her groom without spilling any. He then passes it back to her and the exchange is repeated three times. She then performs the salt exchange with all the members of the groom's family, symbolizing her blending in with her new family.

When considering a salt ceremony don't feel like it's limited to newlyweds.  The Marriage Salt Covenant is great to renew a couple's commitment to each other no matter how long they have been married. Also, consider having children participate in the union as a reminder that they to are a part of the commitment being made.

Wedding Day Details Not To Miss~Games For The Kids

A Game Plan For the Kids

Why? Even if you love children, you won't want them disrupting the wedding ceremony or reception. Have a plan to keep little ones at their best.

How to do it?
At the ceremony, have an usher hand out coloring books and crayons. At mealtime, seat little ones with their parents so they'll be in top form while eating. If lots of kids will be attending, setting up a nearby room with games, craft supplies, and DVDs guarantees that they'll have a good time during the reception (as will their eternally grateful parents).

Wedding Day Details Not To Miss~Specialty Lighting

The Lighting

Why?
The right lighting for your wedding or reception can help flatter any space and make you and your guests look great. Lighting is the one element that is arguably the most important. Light can create mood, atmosphere, and actually transform a space. Unfortunately, it is often overlooked. If there is something in the space that you will be using for your wedding ceremony or reception, that you want hidden or concealed, lighting might be your answer. A professional lighting company can be your best friend. If you are unsure about accent lighting, ambient lighting, or if you should or should not use specialty lighting on your wedding day, contact a wedding planner, as they are experienced in the use of lighting and its effects.

How to do it?
Use colored lighting to punch up a drab hallway. Pick a different yet complementary hue for the rest of the reception (use blue for a white wedding, amber for a pink celebration). Decorative hanging lights, lamps with patterned shades, or crystal chandeliers will transform a space from plain to extravagant.

Outdoor Wedding Advice

Man alive! The past two years, as a wedding DJ, I have seen some pretty rainy outdoor weddings. While an outdoor wedding can be totally awesome, when the weather does not cooperate, it can be a disaster if you do not have some planning, in order.

1. Dress for the elements. Choose fabrics that ensure comfort on the big day. Think about the later hours of the event as well. Will you need to be warm at any point? Will it maybe get to warm, after the dancing starts?

2. Keep your guests' comfort in mind. Also, make sure to let your guests know that the wedding will be outdoors. Prepare them so that they may dress appropriately.

3. Decorations. Wet streamers look like wet toilet paper. Remember, decorations have to brave the elements, and sometimes they may ruin photos, as well. Look for natural or built-in points of beauty for great backdrops and photo opportunities, rather than to try and plot lots of unnecessary decorations.

4. Invest in a good tent. You get what you pay for and you do not want to be dodging downpour streams in the middle of the dance floor. Take no shortcuts when renting a tent, or deal with sunburns and tidal waves.

5. Plan well. While you have to plan ahead and cannot know what the weather will be on a particular date exactly, you can still try for the right season. Plan your outdoor wedding day for a time of the year that averages good weather that is comfortable.

6. Have a Backup Plan. Ever hear of "Plan B"? Make one! You can't predict what the weather is going to be. Rather than stress about it, plan for a site which will allow you to move the entire wedding to an inside location easily.

7. Alert your vendors! All of your vendors should know that it is an outdoor wedding. It sounds easy, but often this is forgotten and sometimes certain precautions need to be taken by your professionals to make everything work out well.

Thanks to the statements of many fashion magazines, most women are manipulated and tried to get into a high heel, that on the wedding day to be torture. For people who are not accustomed to walking in high heels, it may even be painful to wear heels for what is a very long day. Flat bridal shoes, however, none of these drawbacks, because they are something people are used every day of my life. If you're worried about the marks, you'll probably be surprised to learn that there are different design plan wedding shoes bearing the labels of some of the finest names in the market. In addition, you will have many options round toe, pointed toe shoes, ballerina style flat with small jumps.

There is a common misconception that the heels are associated with a lady's shoes and wedding plans are simple but not true. Flat shoes are stylish, modern and attractive as high-heeled shoes. Sometimes they can look better than high heels. One of the considerations is best when you're a tall girl you do not want to look taller than the groom on his wedding day with high heels on.

The main reason is that it is safer and more comfortable much like the shoes you wear in regular day. You are less likely to travel, engage, and worry when you're flat bridal shoes that when you have high heels. It will help you when you dance, if you do not want to impale the foot of someone with five, while dancing (it's likely to happen if you're not a dancer and danced for the first time with the tip), flat shoes are the best option.

Wedding Day Details Not to Miss~The Guest Book

The Guest Book

Why?
It takes more than setting out a couple of pens to make a guest book enticing enough to get all your guests to sign in. The trick is to show off your creativity in an inviting way.

How to do it
? Ask guests to contribute to a scrapbook by providing a Polaroid camera. Make a backdrop by hanging an attractive piece of fabric and then ask each guest, couple, or family to stand in front of it and pose. Have a close friend man the camera. When their picture is ready, they can pop it into the guest book and sign their names next to it. Or get your videographer involved and go for a live guest book reel by having each of your guests express all of their sentiments on camera.

Other Options? Use a wishing tree or scrapbook containing little pockets or envelopes that allows guests not only to sign their names, but leave the bride and groom a special wish or message that they can read over and over again throughout the coming years. Some photographers will provide you with a hard-bound book containing your engagement photos. The pages are finished with wide mats around the images, allowing plenty of space for message writing and signing by your guests.
