Wow...It's Been Way Too Long!

I'm sorry that I've neglected you for a month, my lovies! Trust me there's a lot to report and report I shall....tomorrow LOL. I have some new tips and tricks for you- invites (yikes!), menus, tastings, keeping away from possible bridesmaids drama, Thanksgiving survival LOL....

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families! I'm thankful for you guys for hanging in there with me and joining me on this journey!

etsy find: The Bijou Babe

It's always exciting when you come across something that makes you jump around inside. That's what happened when I found The Bijou Babe and her gorgoeus work on Etsy! I love the contrasting colours of pink and green combined with gold, and the delicate berry-like details. Gorgeous!

at home: sweet like chocolate!

Two of our friends - Erin and Ryan - were over on Sunday to meet our new puppy Bear. It just so happened that it was also Ryan's birthday so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to make him a cake! I must admit, it was quite ambitious considering I'm certainly not the domestic goddess that some people might think I am. I do not cook, in fact, I hate cooking... but there's something about baking a cake that's just so much more fun!

It was a little daunting at first but as I got the hang of it, it started to turn out pretty well. I was so proud of the finished product that I just had to take some pics to show off my first baked treat =) And, for the record, it was delicious!!

(Poor little Bear, I could see him eyeing off the cake all morning but he didn't get a piece... he did get a bone though which he seemed pretty pleased with...)

shop update: purple and teal pretties

For quite some time I have been planning to expand my range into brighter richer colours. The colour trends for 2011 are absolutely gorgeous and include colours such as apple green, hot pink, violet purple, emerald and yellow just to name a few.

Stay tuned... I'm slowly photographing the pieces but I plan to add them all to my store shortly.

These pretty feather hair pieces can be made in a number of different colours and sizes. Please let me know if you would like a piece custom made specifically for you!

Be True

The best advice I can give you....

Mr Bear: Rubenstein bear

I mentioned in an earlier post that we were expecting a new addition to our family.... well, I can proudly report that Mr Rubenstein "Bear", our gorgeous (now) 11 week old chocolate Labrador has been settling in well in his new abode and seems to be quite happy with his new surroundings.

He arrived about 2 weeks ago at the age of 9 weeks via plane from a Labrador breeder in Melbourne. It was a one hour flight but it must have felt like an eternity for our poor little puppy. While we would have preferred to have driven from Canberra to collect him, we thought that a one hour flight would be less traumatic for a little puppy compared to an 8 hour drive. He arrived safely, a little anxious, but overall happy-go-lucky and keen to meet his new family.

I have taken about a million photos of our new puppy dog... ahh, what can I say, I'm a proud new parent! We have even arranged a professional photo session of Bear this coming Sunday so that's very exciting.  A little like a family portrait with Steve and myself. Oh I can't wait to show you all how the photos turn out!

wish list: gorgeous garlands

With Christmas fast approaching, I'm on the look out for some pretty pieces to decorate my home. These items have been in my favourites list for a little while now but I just can't choose!!

Ahh what the heck... I might get all of them!

etsy find: lovejune

For quite some time, I have been eyeing off the wonderful creations of Love June and it won't be too long before I invest in one of her gorgeous gowns.  I adore the glamourous, yet floaty, bohemian signature style and I can't wait for the perfect occasion to wear one of these pieces of art.  The hardest part I think is trying to figure out which dress to purchase because they're all so pretty!

You can check out her brilliant work here or on her Facebook fan page.

Allow me to introduce myself....

Happy couple of days after Thanksgiving.  A while back I blogged about the difference between an on-site coordinator and an off-site one.  Today Im going to focus on the off-site coordinator.. ME :)

My name is Sharon Patrice; my friends call me "Shay".  Sharon is on the anal retentive side, doesn't mind going to work every day and likes really nice things.  Dont be suprised to see Sharon with her natural hair pulled back, basic makeup on with a suit and pumps grooving to smooth sounds with a glass of wine.  She is somewhat reserved and the calmer of the two.. LOL :)  Now "Shay" is a different story all together.  She lives outside the box every day and believes in her next life she'll be a bartender.  Although she too likes really nice things, you'll see her with her natural hair maybe in a mohawk or something else "different".  She is more creative and doesnt mind taking risk;  you'll also catch her dancing to house music.

Now that you believe I am a complete nut - I AM Sharon "Shay" Patrice, a Professional Wedding Consultant AND Events Specialist.  With over 15 years in the Event Planning and Wedding Industry I own SIMPLY PERFECT PEACE EVENTS and DESIGNS BY SHAY... I absolutely love what I do! Coming from a large family and corporate america with a background in Project Management, (anal retentive) allowed me to plan many events on a multitude of scales  One of my first weddings was for a close family friend with a small budget wanting something in her parents back yard.   At that time, I'd never planned anything outside so that was quite a challenge for me and I LOVED IT!  To date, my most elaborate was a week long corporate event with a budget I still dream of :)
  • I've been asked on more than one occasion "what is your perfect bride".  My bride is BUSY living life!  She knows what she wants but not quite sure how to pull it all together.  She is modern, upbeat and fun, loves her family and looks forward to sharing her most personal and memorable moments with those that celebrate her.  Not to be confused with a bridezilla, she values time and welcomes PEACE with open arms.  Dont be alarmed if you dont fit that description because SPPE works with and knows some great planners that may be able to help you as well and we'd love to recommend them to you :)
Simply Perfect Peace is a full service event and wedding coordinating company providing a variety of services to individuals planning parties, weddings, or social events of any size to clients in Chicago, IL and beyond.  Lifestyles today are so rushed and hectic and planning an event of any size can seem like an overwhelming task when you simply dont have the time to do the necessary research.  At Simply Perfect Peace Events, Inc we abide by the five (5) phases of event and project management: Research, Design, Organization, Coordination, Evaluation.  We are serious about creating PEACE and then maintaining it for our clients.

Simply Perfect Peace offers four comprehensive packages from Simply Prestigious (Full Service) to Simply Pleasant (Day Of  Coordination) which are designed to meet any budget or need.  We'd love to work with you on your most important day.  Contact US for your complimentary consultation and take advantage of some current specials.

New Black Eyed Peas song samples Dirty Dancing Track

The Peas have just given their fans a taste the album's first single dance track "The Time (Dirty Bit)." This track samples the iconic theme from "Dirty Dancing," "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

"You should expect deeper, a little bit darker electro beats and a little bit more of relationship issues on this one, a little bit more touching on that." Fergie told MTV News. "But darker beats and a lot of funny stuff, as well, a lot of funny stuff." Fergie said the song, “sort of sums up the current vibe of our group.”

The new album will be released on November 30th.

Warm Winter Wedding Ideas

Citrus fruits are so perfect in winter – they’re such a bright and refreshing note on otherwise cold and dreary days. And though I would never limit citrus to one season, I do think it’s perfect for a winter brunch wedding. At least, that’s what I had in mind when making today’s inspiration board. Buttery yellow and warm white act as a clean backdrop for bright pops of various citrus colors, from grapefruit pink to tangerine. Instead of a full bar, how about a few citrus cocktails and variations on the classic mimosa? Let vintage botanical prints inspire your stationery, or perhaps act as table numbers (I love them in the white frames on the wall in the top left corner). Ribbon wands are a sweet alternative for flower girls, instead of confetti or rice, or even for lining the aisle in an outdoor ceremony.

Mood: cheerful and sweetly sophisticated
Palette: grapefruit, lemonade, blood orange, tangerine, lime

Row 2: vintage citrus botanical print from Vintage Printables, dress from Charleston Weddings
Row 3: calligraphy by Tara Jones, velvet ring boxes from Martha Stewart Weddings, kumquat place setting from Fiore Designs
Row 4: suit with orange necktie from Martha Stewart Weddings, ribbon wands by Chelsea Fuss, orange bouquet with small cup daffodils by Ariella Chezar for Brides
