Halloween - Remixed!!!

Halloween?! To celebrate or not to celebrate that is the question.  I was watching "The View" the other day and Sheree was trying to decide if she should or should not allow her small child to "dress up".  Whatever your belief BE SAFE!

So, while it is perfectly legitimate to decorate one's house with orange lights and carved pumpkins, to dunk for apples and go to dances, the Church warns us quite bluntly not to cross the line into the sin of witchcraft and sorcery and tells us plainly what that includes.

If you're looking for something to do this Halloween check out "The Whiz Remix". The show runs October 29th-30th at Prairie State College, 202  S. Halsted, Chicago Heights, IL.
Directors Robert & Sherree Lee have enlisted the talents of Andre "Lester" Mobley (Shekinah Glory Ministry) as musical director, Jeremy "Vessel" Holmes (Urban Inspirational Artist) as music producer, Donna Barnett (Beast Women) as vocal director and choreographers Nicole Mannie (former Alvin Ailey dancer) and Sherrae' Lee to help guide the 50+ member cast.

"The Wiz" by playwrights William F. Brown and Charlie Smalls, is an adaptation of Frank Baum's classic novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".  KPA2's adaptation written by Sherree Lee is an updated, urban Christian version of the story that now begins in 2010.  Destiny and her brother, JoJo's adventures at Old Zion Ministries Mega Church (OZ for short) have been set to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of gospel, hip hop and soul and lead them on a journey of wisdom, love, courage and purpose!  This hilarious adaptation of a beloved urban musical will have you clapping and dancing in your seat as it inspires you about your own purpose and destiny!

Showtime is at 7:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
Ticket donation is $15.  To reserve tickets call the KPA2 Box Office at 708-331-3511 ext 120 or visit www.kpa2whizremix.eventbrite.com.

shop update: new clutches on the way

ooohhh I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to write for a little while but I can happily say that I have some gorgeous new clutch purses on the way.... I'm absolutely in love with them! I've been working on some new purse patterns and I'm really pleased with the new shape. They're still quite similar to the original kisslock clutch but with a few pretty tweaks.  I'll keep you posted with photos shortly!

have a great day everyone! xx

Teresa & Brandon's Wedding

Set among the foothills and pines of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is a small fishing lake and a stone lodge built decades ago. The stone-covered Galena Lodge is a serene setting and the perfect place for a wedding and reception any day of the year, sun or snow.

Teresa and Brandon chose to be married at the exact location where they first met, exactly one year before. Overlooking the lake, and with close family and friends close by, they became husband and wife. Teresa could not have looked any more beautiful! Her flowers were the most amazing colors...ever!

Teresa and Brandon, it was such a great experience meeting you and getting to know you and your nice families. Your wedding was so beautiful and such a meaningful memory, and I am sure that you will be happy forever. My sincere congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness. xoxo Liane

Tina & Brian's Wedding

Brian loves to restore old cars and motorcycles, so The National Automobile Museum in Reno, was in fact, the perfect place for he and Tina to be married. The setting could not have been any more perfect. Charming tree-lined streets with quaint shops and vintage cars everywhere, provided the perfect atmosphere for their wedding... one that was unique only to them. With chairs filling the street, and guests beginning to arrive, beautiful Tina took the arm of her loving mother and her father, for her walk down the sidewalk aisle towards her beaming groom.

So, beneath a weeping willow, and in view of hundreds of friends, she and Brian became husband and wife. Surrounded by an amazing collection of one-of-a-kind automobiles, a fabulous dinner was served to guests seated at tables assigned by various types of vintage cars. It was a great day, a fabulous meal, and a terrific party to wish this great couple a happy ever after.

Tina and Brian, it was such a pleasure meeting you and working with you on your wonderful wedding day. You are such nice people, with terrific families, and I know you will be happy together forever. xoxo Liane

After playing dress-up in the PhoBooth at Ms. Debbie's a few weeks ago, these mustaches and lips on a stick would definitely make for a lot of fun at a reception!

Roles of a Wedding DJ

Since DJs have become such a popular choice for weddings, they are no longer a guy who just “plays music” at your reception. These days, the wedding DJ has transformed into a full-fledged organized entertainer, with many responsibilities.

With a good wedding DJ, you get an emcee (M.C.) who keeps your guests happy and having fun, and you also get a coordinator who also, for the most part, acts as a wedding planner in many cases. Most professional DJs who don’t just play in bars, understand the import role that organization and planning plays.

In most cases, your DJ , handles all the important announcements so that your guests know what’s coming up next during your reception. Don’t fool yourself. This is not an easy task. The ability to communicate well with large crowd is a talent. Knowing what to say, how to say it tastefully, and what professional voice to use is difficult.

The best way to judge if your DJ will communicate well with your audience is really listen to your first conversation with your prospective disc jockey on the phone. Do they know what they are talking about? Is your DJ clear? Do they make sense? Do they sound like they have several experiences to pull from?

Your first conversation can help you get a sense of your DJ’s personality and can help you decide on whether or not you should even think about setting up a meeting. Also, ask for multimedia website information, such as pictures and videos that might portrait your DJ-in-question in action at an actual wedding.

Your DJ is also responsible for the music and the flow of the evening, as well as take on the role of event coordinator. This includes the all the stuff that happens like the grand entrance introductions, the first dance, the father-bride dance, mother-groom dance, the cake cutting, and the garter/bouquet toss.

Monday Funday!

Goal Complete!

Today, Nicole Farley, Marie Palmquist, Laura Bunkowski, Aimee Sargent, and I completed our goal from the past 4+ months.

WE FINISHED A HALF-MARATHON!!!

And what a beautiful day it was to run.  Although at times, we may have felt as if we were going to die, we did it.  Nicole and I ended up running the last 6ish miles together and speaking encouragement to ourselves almost the entire time.  There were a few swear words that almost leaked out due to our body's condition and lack of strength.  But we finished.

Nicole and I finished in 2 hours and 16 minutes... not the best time, but we weren't going for that.  We just wanted to finish.  The other 3 finished ahead of us and did WONDERFUL!!

Matt and Chris were there cheering us on and so encouraging.  Afterwards, we all went out to Carlos O'Kelly's to celebrate our wonderful victory.

Aimee and I will most likely never be running a half-marathon again, but the other three weren't quite as negative towards the idea. So... we'll see if there are any running events in the future at which cheerleaders will be needed.  :)

Networking Chicago Style - 8 til 8 and TheKnot.com

It was two beautiful fall evenings of sharing in Chicago!

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the 8 til 8 event hosted by  Cara and Scott Nava of Carasco Photography. Along with networking with some awesome industry professionals, I enjoyed good food by SundaTipsyCake wow'd us with some delicious treats and Kim Edstrom Schriller and Sara Jenkins-Sutton of Topiarius created the most amazing floral designs.  Finally, if you're looking for a simply unique gift check out "Foodie Registry" .... all proceeds from this event went to Wish Upon A Wedding!

Wednesday I had the opportunity to attend an amazing Wedding networking event at the Chicago History Museum hosted by Knot.com. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers, delicious food, and the top wedding vendors throughout the Chicago area including D Micah Lindsay of Diann Valentine & Associates, Monika Labbe of Creative M Photography, Candace Polk of  Events by Candace, the talented and avant-garde photographer Bryant Johnson , owner of Steelelife Gallery, Sharon Ringier Events, Calligrapher and Stationer Christy Toney as well as Jim Verraros & Bill Brennan of Bridal Expo Chicago to name a few.

In networking, I learned of the new partnership between Vera Wang and David’s Bridal. Gowns will range from $600 to $1,500, with most coming in under $1,200, which will make a designer gown much more affordable for today’s Brides.  The Knot's Inc., Carley Roney was so generous with her time and spent the evening speaking with Chicago Wedding Professionals about current trends in our industry.

Enjoy some photo's taken by me Sharon Patrice of Simply Perfect Peace Events, Inc. :) ~ Peaceful Planning

To round up the week, Danie Roberts of the Bridal Sampler held her MWIPMixer which I was unable to attend due to client meetings.  From what I hear - It was great! They learned how to shake their Tambourine with Souffle' Enterpriss Inc.  As a new member of their advisory board I recommend that you get involved with MWIP and grow your network and have a little fun along the way! Don't forget about Girls Night out - www.tbsgirlsnighout.com on October 28th & The Bridal Sampler Wedding Expo - www.bridalsampler.com is Sunday - October 24th - a lot going on - see you soon!

Someone you should know - Chef Trevor Hoyte

While attending the Chicago Gourmet I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Trevor Hoyte of IPO Restaurant.and on October 13, 2010 IPO officially opened it's doors at the W Chicago City Center.

Trevor Hoyte, Executive Chef of IPO, has created an eclectic menu of New Urban Cuisine inspired by the diverse cultures found in Chicago.  We had the opportunity to sample his "grilled melon" which at first sight was a bit iffy because WHO grills melon? Well, let me just say afterwards I personally wanted more ....who grills melon ... CHEF TREVOR HOYTE!!
